Pro Meredith Kessler Charged with Felony Hit and Run

Meredith-Kessler.jpgKGO-TV News out of San Francisco is reporting that well-known professional triathlete and Ironman champion Meredith Kessler has been charged with felony hit and run from an accident back in March. It stems from an accident near AT&T Park where she allegedly hit a man and left the scene after checking on his condition.

Back in June Kessler was herself a victim of getting hit by a car, this time while on her bike during a race. As a result she suffered some head trauma, similar to what is being reported in the news story.

"Kessler was charged with felony hit-and-run. She pleaded not guilty during her arraignment on Tuesday."

"The affidavit says during the police interview, Kessler said she left the scene because she was late getting to the airport and she thought the victim was in good care"

Remember this, "Innocent until proven guilty".

It's been a good year for fan favorite Kessler, who has been on a roll this year, winning 3-Ironman 70.3 races including the Ironman U.S. Pro 70.3 Championship in St. George as well as defending her title at Ironman New Zealand this year.

It is unclear at this point what she can / will do about racing in her upcoming scheduled races.
