Ironman World Championship Entry up for Auction via CAF

Challenged Athletes Foundation logoThe Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF), a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved and stay involved in sports, announced today they will auction a coveted slot to the Ironman World Championship at their seventh annual A Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope gala in New York City on June 12. The winning bidder (or his/her designee) may compete in either the 2013 or 2014 Ironman World Championship, organized and conducted by the World Triathlon Corporation, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Proceeds from the auction will support CAF's mission and fund the purchase of adaptive sports equipment, training and competition expenses and mentoring for physically challenged athletes so they can get involved - and stay involved in life-affirming sports.

"We are excited that through our partnership with the World Triathlon Corporation we will be able to not only support a greater number of challenged athletes, but also make another athlete's Ironman dream come true," said Virginia Tinley, Executive Director of the Challenged Athletes Foundation. "Since 2007, the auction of an Ironman World Championship entry at A Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope gala has raised over $350,000 to fulfill the athletic dreams of challenged athletes around the world. We look forward to growing this amount this year and many years to come."
