Frederik Van Lierde to Race the Extreme Man in Salou

extrememan-frederikvanlierde.jpgBelgian Frederik Van Lierde, the 2012 Ironman World bronze medalist in Hawaii and two-time winner at the Ironman France (2011 and 2012), has entered the "Extreme Man" competition to be held in Salou on the Costa Dorada on May 5, 2013.

The 33-year-old will prepare on the half distance course of the Extreme Man - Salou triathlon in Spain for the upcoming Ironman France in Nice (June 23) and the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii (October 12). At the 2012 World Championship van Lierde (8hrs24min09sec) was passed only by Australian Pete Jacobs (8:18:37hrs) and German Andreas Raelert (8:23:40hrs).

The "Extreme Man" series consists of four events in the half distance to take place at extraordinary and gorgeous locations. Salou will be followed by Getxo in the Bask country (July 7), Narbonne on the French Mediterranean (September 8) and the Balearic Island of Minorca (September 22).

The events are being organised by the WIN SPORTS FACTORY, founded in 2002. The company with headquarters in Barcelona has become known in the Iberian Peninsula with staging the "Wild Wolf Triathlon Series by Polar" in the past years. A total of 7,500 athletes competed in the series' five events (short and Olympic distance) in 2012. Now they want to also make a splash in the half distance with the "Extreme Man" series.
