Interview with Mark Wilson from HITS Triathlon Series

We had the chance to catch up with Mark Wilson in Palm Springs who is the Race Director for all of the events in the HITS Triathlon Series. In 2012 he helped put on 10 triathlon events across the country, each with 5 race distances over the weekend. The Palm Springs race was the final race of the 2012 season.

He was a busy guy this day but took some time to talk to us, we recapped the 2012 season, talked about the pricing structure they've implemented, talked about what they are doing about attracting pros in the future, chit-chatted about their cool transition area and looked forward to the 2013 season.

This was the first time meeting and getting to talk to Mark since the triathlon series kicked off in 2011 with the Palm Springs event. He was very nice and enthusiastic, you get it that he loves what he gets to offer triathletes via the triathlon series.

On race day for the Full and Half, Mark was down by the waters edge greeting just about every athlete coming out of the water at the swim loop exit. Shaking hands with those he could and greeting those he knew, which was quite a few. He was there the following day greeting the Sprint and Olympic racers as well, one of which was myself coming out of the water during the Olympic Distance triathlon, going back into the lake for the second loop.

What you don't see in the video is all the people that come up to him prior to the event or after the race and thank him for the experience they had during the HITS Triathlon Series Palm Springs event.
