HITS to Debut New Event in Grand Junction, CO in 2013

HITS Tri SeriesHITS Triathlon Series has announced that they will return to Colorado in 2013 and have opened registration for it's new HITS Grand Junction event, planned for May 18-19.

HITS will offer "a distance for everyone!"™ in Grand Junction, including Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full distance races, coupled with the popular HITS Open, which features a 100 meter swim, a three mile bike, a one mile run and is aimed at growing the sport of triathlon by welcoming new athletes to a user-friendly distance. For the athletes going long, the Half and Full distance races will take place Saturday, May 18 and the Sprint, Olympic and Open distance races will occur Sunday, May 19.

After past success with Colorado Parks & Wildlife, HITS will introduce their Grand Junction event at Highline Lake State Park. Athletes will swim in the waters of Highline Lake, where water temperatures are estimated in the low 60s. The bike course is fast and offers expansive views, while the run delivers a spectacularly scenic route over the Highline Dam.

"We have been working tirelessly since the beginning to find an ideal location in Colorado and I think we have done so with Grand Junction," said HITS Race Director Mark H. Wilson. "The swim, bike and run courses at every distance are going to be a thrill and we are very excited to provide more long distance options to Colorado athletes."

HITS rolled out their 2013 pricing structure earlier this year and after seeing events fill up quickly, they will continue offering deep discounts for athletes who sign up early for HITS Grand Junction. Those who sign up before January 18 will receive 75% off regular pricing. Prices will then continue to increase as race day approaches.

"While some believe that there's enough demand to increase rates, our approach is focused on delivering value," said HITS President and CEO Tom Struzzieri. "This innovative structure allows athletes who organize their schedules in advance an affordable price point."

Grand Junction course maps have been finalized and are available at HitsTriathlonSeries.com.

HITS is currently working with local hotels to arrange lodging partners and will post them as soon as they become available. For more information, or to register for HITS Grand Junction, please visit HitsTriathlonSeries.com/Grand-Junction-CO.
