HITS Triathlon Purchases Popular North Country Triathlon

hitsnctripromo.jpgIn cooperation with local race organizers, HITS Triathlon Series is proud to announce the purchase of the North Country Triathlon in Hague, New York and its addition to the national race series. Once a popular and successful Sprint and Olympic event, the North Country Triathlon will now offer the five distances of the HITS Triathlon Series and will be dedicated to continuing the success of original Founder Randy Engler.

The HITS North Country Triathlon has been added to the 2013 HITS Triathlon Series schedule and will present a weekend of racing June 29-30. Registration is now open and complete course maps are posted at HitsTriathlonSeries.com.

"Hague, New York is the perfect location for our races and we are excited to continue what the North Country Triathlon has started," said HITS Triathlon Series Race Director Mark Wilson. "The rolling foothills of the Adirondack Mountains and the waters of Lake George create an atmosphere that lends itself well to shorter distance races, while also creating great opportunities to go long."

With its inaugural season coming to a close this December, HITS Triathlon Series is eager to continue reinventing the sport of swimming, biking and running. They are the first national series to produce a year-round race schedule and offer five distances during a single weekend, including the family-friendly HITS Open and a new generation of Full distance options.

"We were looking for a race destination that could provide a multi-distant event to athletes from across the tri-state area and capital region," said HITS President and CEO Tom Struzzieri. "Several HITS staff members have raced the well-run North Country Triathlon and have been lucky enough to build a relationship with Randy [Engler] that led to this agreement."

Founded in 2007, the North Country Triathlon has gained notable traction within the local triathlon community of upstate New York. Throughout his five-year tenure, Engler has prided himself in producing well-organized, environmentally sensitive and challengingly fun events.

"I'm very excited that HITS will be continuing with my vision of producing a solid event showcasing all the great things the Town of Hague and the communities around Lake George have to offer." said North Country Founder Randy Engler. "I've been really fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented and energetic volunteers and community members each year. Their enthusiasm is what keeps our athletes coming back to this beautiful location. Tom and his team are top-notch and I look forward to seeing them take the race to the next level."

As race day approaches, HITS Triathlon Series will be engaging with local communities surrounding Hague, New York to secure vendors for their Fitness Festival as well as volunteers for course support, athlete check-in and beyond.
