bousleonsnatchamp.jpgThe Best of the U.S. (BOUS), now in it's eight year has announced that it has selected Leon's "World's Fastest" Triathlon as host of the 8th annual Best of the U.S. Amateur National Championship on June 2, 2013. Qualifying state triathlon races for the 2013 Championship run throughout 2012.

The Best of the U.S. Triathlon Series shines the spotlight on the talent-rich field of amateur men and women their home state at the Best of the U.S. Amateur Triathlete Championship. The fastest male and female amateurs from each of the state qualifiers earns the right to represent themselves and their state at championship race.

Located at Wolf Lake Park in Hammond, Indiana, Leon's Triathlon offers a convenient mid-country Chicago travel destination and a completely closed course designed for flat-out "industrial-strength" racing. Much of the bike course is on a section of closed-down freeway--a unique opportunity for wide-open, head-down hammering, totally absent traffic concerns. With incredible support from the community and the City of Hammond, the run course through neighborhoods is likewise fully closed through completion of the race.

The race venue at Wolf Lake Park seems almost designed for triathlon, with huge transition areas and smooth in-and-out traffic flow for athletes. The park's new Frank Lloyd Wright-designed pavilion is a graceful focal point for the finish line and post-race amenities. Lake Michigan's South Shore is a stone's throw away; Chicago's Lakeshore Drive skyline is visible off in the distance. The race is featured in an hour-long broadcast on Comcast Sports Net and aired regionally across the U.S.
