On a great day for racing Jesse Thomas and Lauren Goss win the inaugural 2012 Rev3 Maine OlympicRev Triathlon in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Both the men's and women's professional field, including series leaders Richie Cunningham and Nicole Kelleher were chasing the $25,000 prize purse.
Thomas sprinted his way to victory using his 33:09 run split to pass Conrad Stoltz on the run for his first place finish and his $4,500 payday, his first Rev3 win. Brian Fleischmann and Kyle Leto started things of out of the swim. It was the off-road triathlon king Stoltz who chased them down and gained the lead on men's field on the bike, with his fastest of the day 28.37mph average. Kaleb Van Ort had the fastest run split of the day, a 32:05, but it only helped him move up from 5th place to 3rd place in the end.
On the women's side Alice Henriques, Goss and Becky Lavelle exited the 1.5km swim out in front. It was then Lavelle who gained the lead on the women's filed heading into T2 with Goss not that far behind but it was Goss who had a faster run of the two. She passes Lavelle, extends her lead and get the win by nearly four minutes.
