In less than a year, Utah looses an Ironman full distance triathlon event in St. George and gains a new independent iron distance event in Laketown. Oddly enough, on the opposite, northern border of Utah compared to the southern border location where the St. George event took place.
On Hill Events, organizers of the 6th Annual Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon and various other triathlons in Utah just received approval to add a new distance to their September race date. Now on September 8, 2012 in conjunction with the Long/Half 70+ course the Bear Lake Brawl will add the new Ultra/Long 140+ course. The triathlon distance is the same as a normal iron distance race, a 2.4mi Swim, 112mi Bike and 26.2mi Run. At some point the event will be re-branded as Bear Lake Man Triathlon. Organizer will still have their Sprint and Olympic Distance triathlon events, but those will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2012.

The event takes place in Bear Lake with Caribbean Blue water, in Laketown which is located in the northeast corner of Utah, which borders Idaho and Wyoming. The race venue is located 130-140 miles northeast of Salt Lake City.
Organizers are excited about the new Ultra/Long 140+ course but warn participants that initially it will be limited to 100 participants. The Long/Half 70+ course has a much high capacity.
