Barry Siff New Vice President of USAT Board of Directors


barry siffUSA Triathlon today announced that Barry Siff (Boulder, Colo.) was named Vice President of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors.

Prior to accepting this officer position, Siff was initially elected to the Board of Directors in January 2012 while representing the Rocky Mountain, Pacific Northwest and Midwest Regions. He previously served as Chair of USA Triathlon's Race Director Committee, and is currently a member of USA Triathlon's History Project team and serves on the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame Committee, an event he has emceed for the past four years.

"Barry provides the Board and USA Triathlon with an extensive background and experience as a race director, age-group athlete, and corporate officer who will support our mandate to guide and grow the sport," said Bob Wendling (Springfield, Va.), President of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors. "We look forward to his continued contributions in many areas now as Vice President."

"I am particularly excited to be able to continue the momentum of our organization on a larger, international scale, having come off such a phenomenal weekend of events in San Diego, in conjunction with the ITU World Triathlon Series."

Siff began his triathlon career in 1986 in Omaha, Neb., and has raced consistently since that time. In addition to completing 10 Ironman events and more than 50 marathons (including the Leadville 100 Trail Run), Siff was a full-time adventure racer from 1998-2003, having completed numerous Eco-Challenge, Raid Gauloises, and Discovery Channel World Championship events in over 20 countries. In addition, Siff has co-authored two books on sport, and continues to be a contributor to many triathlon and sports magazines, and other media outlets worldwide.
