Richmond Rox Triathlon, New Half Iron in Virginia


Richmond Rox TriathlonA new Half Iron Distance triathlon was born with the New Year in Richmond, Virginia. Triathletes will now have an option to go long with the new Richmond Rox Triathlon in September. Richmond Multisports, which puts on a variety of triathlon events in the area is the race organizer of the new event.

The triathlon event will consist of the standard 1.2 mile Swim, 56 mile Bike and a 13.1 mile Run. The race will take place at Rocketts Landing Village, Richmond's premier river front community with great views of downtown! The swim is in the James River, the bike course heads east into rural Varina, rolling, but not difficult with grades and the run heads west into historical downtown Richmond, along the canal walk, Brown's & Belle Islands, across the pedestrian bridge over the river, back across the flood wall, loops back again on the VA Capital Trail. The event finishes at Rocketts right in front of the Boathouse & Conch Republic Restaurants! A post race party will be held inside the Boathouse with spectacular views of the river & Richmond.

  • • Great Ball of Fire Award - goes to the most spirited individual or team at the race

Registration is currently open for the new USAT Sanctioned Richmond Rox Triathlon with a race cap of 700 participants. Visit the event website for details on this new half iron distance triathlon in September.
