2575 Triathlon Series Kicks Off 2012 Season in March

2575 triathlon miamiThe second race in the sprint distance 2575 Triathlon Series and first race of the 2012 season kicks-off in Key Biscayne in March.

Created and organized by the founders of the Miami International Triathlon, the new 2575 Triathlon Series holds the same high standards of quality and organization for the ultimate triathlon racing experience. The inaugural race was held with great success on December 4th and now looks forward to continuing that success in 2012. Now they are back to kick off the season series on March 11, 2011 in Key Biscayne, Florida.

The 2575 Triathlon Series is similar to the 5150 Series announced last year by the World Triathlon Corporation. In this case organizers will focus on the Sprint Distance triathlon market for their series. The number 2575 is derived from the kilometer distances raced by athletes in a Sprint distance triathlon; 0.75km Swim, 20km Bike, 5km Run. The 2575 Series would tap into an audience that attracts many first-time triathletes to the sport as well as those seasoned athletes that seek to prove that they are the fastest in the sport.

Triathlon: 2575 Triathlon Miami
When: Sunday, March 11, 2012
Where: Miami Marine Stadium, Key Biscayne, Florida
Divisions: Age Group, Relay
Website: www.2575miami.com

SWIM COURSE: A closed bay with nothing except ocean blue waters and the sound of your strokes.

BIKE COURSE: Known very well by locals, the "Key Biscayne Loop" features a perfect 12.4 mile course when starting at the City of Miami Marine Stadium. Featuring beautiful views of the Downtown Miami Skyline, as well as Key Biscayne & Virginia Key beaches and parks, this course is smooth and flat in the majority of its extension - but don't think for a second it will be an easy ride: the William Powell bridge will separate real athletes from the rest, as it adds almost one mile of "hill climbing" biking and stands a total of 76 feet tall at its highest point from the water level.

RUN COURSE: A 3.1 mile stretch course shaded by pine trees and natural vegetation where all you see are trees and the sky blue shoreline. No cars, no streets, no traffic lights. As one of Miami's best kept secrets, this running course along the bay has been just repaved.

This will be the first race in a series of races taking place here in the US as well as internationally. Details are still being finalized for a new race in Cancun, Mexico, the 2575 Triathlon Cancun event.
