XTERRA has released the 2012 XTERRA World Tour Championship schedule. The series will consist of 16 qualifying races around the world along with the XTERRA World Championship event Maui.
The XTERRA World Tour gives athletes around the world a chance to race in some of the most diverse, spectacular, and challenging natural environments on the planet - from tropical jungles to snow-covered alps.
New on the race schedule this year is the XTERRA Venezuela Championship event in September. The event was added late in 2011 and took place as a low key event, but will receive much more exposure this year.
Also new for 2012 is the upgrade of the XTERRA Guam event. After six years as part of the XTERRA America Tour (a points series race), the XTERRA Guam is now a full-fledged 'Championship' event, complete with a $15,000 pro prize purse and slots to the XTERRA World Championship.
