Kienle, Cave Win 2011 Ironman 70.3 Miami

im703miamimedal.jpgSebastian Kienle of Germany claims men's title, beating fellow German Michael Raelert. Britain's Leanda Cave was back in Miami and defended her title.

A much better event greeted the nearly 3,000 triathletes this year as the after the World Triathlon Corporation took over the event last year from the race organizer. The WTC offered all participants from last year a free entry into this years race after an outcry from all of the issues of last years race. New this year was a new bike course and a run course.

2x Ironman 70.3 World Champion Michael Raelert, fresh off his win in Austin, was on hand and of course was the pre-race favorite over a strong men's field that Viktor Zyemtsev, Sebastian Kienle, Matty Reed and others. Kienle was 25th coming out of the water, he entered T2 in second behind Richard Allen and then used a strong run to stay ahead of Raelert for the win.

The women's field included defending champ Leanda Cave, Emma-Kate Lidbury of Britain, Magali Tisseyre who recently won the Rev3 South Carolina HalfRev, Nina Kraft and others. It was Cave who lead the women out of the water and lead from start to finish.
