As Lonely Planet aptly puts it "Draped along the greatest heights of the Himalaya, Nepal is where the ice-cold of the mountains meets the steamy heat of the Indian plains. It's a land of yaks and yetis, stupas and Sherpas and some of the best trekking on earth. The Himalaya's most sophisticated urban cultures took shape here, in the three great mini kingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley - Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur - home to a world-class artistic and architectural heritage." A unique experience is awaits all those who plan to visit this Himalayan Kingdom.

Himalayan Rush is a result of twin loves - running and Begnas. It came from a desire to create an event that would be a real pleasure to participate in for those who love to run, cycle or swim and would also contribute positively to Begnas and its surrounding local community.

For those who run, swim or cycle for pleasure, for those who aren't winning any prizes for the distances or places they've covered, for those who continue to baffle the people in their lives, for those for whom it is no longer a choice but has become something they must do for their happiness, for their sanity and for themselves - Himalayan Rush is for you.

The vision of Himalayan rush is to create a platform for those who want to push their boundaries just a little bit and experience what its like on the other side. To begin the first step on a different path; to step on the pedal for the first time; to test the waters and simply for a unique experience; Begnas is the perfect place.

nepalBegnasLake.jpgHimalayan Rush will consist of two distances, the Standard distance and the Sprint distance. The standard distance is of course for slightly more experienced, adventurous athletes who would like to push the envelope and do something tougher.

A triathlon with a difference. Leave your Personal Best's at home and participate in Himalayan Rush to soak in the beauty around Bengas Lake and a gorgeous view of the Himalayas. Be a part of Himalayan Rush for the love of the sport, for the love of nature and to give something back.

More info and detailed route will be uploaded in the coming months but the plan is: swimming will be in Begnas Lake, cycling route will be a mix of trail and back roads (mountain bikes) around the lake and running will mostly be on trail.

Organizers eventually hope this will be an event that will stand out in the adventure calendar of Nepal and in the Sprint and Standard distance triathlon calendar of the world, as a truly unique and enriching experience.
