Clemente Alonso is definitely the King of Menorca. The Spanish athlete was the best triathlete today in the tiny village of Fornells, repeating on his performance from last year. French triathlete Sophie Kiefer dominated the female ranking. All of the other 395 triathletes shared a fantastic experience in this race, called to be one of the nicest Triathlon events in the world, according to participant's feedback.
Calm and warm waters, hilly and smooth roads, and tough run is what athletes faced. This is why the Extreme Man 113 Menorca race is like no other: so close to Europe but exotic and different at the same time. A great end of season triathlon destination without a doubt.
Today, Clemente Alonso was the best in facing this long distance race (1.9-90-21.1). Confident with his run, he waited to the half marathon to push hard and lead the race. Only one man could run faster, Jose Manuel Tovar, but he lost too many times in the water and on the bike to expect more than the second place. The third man on the podium was Xavi Llobet.
The women race has been dominated by Sophie Kiefer, which took advantage of the exciting and tough bike loop to take the lead and to conserve it until the end. Nuria Aubeso and Luciana Bermudez completed the podium.
