An announcement is coming later today that will introduce the 27th race in the Ironman global series. The new Ironman Mont-Tremblant triathlon set to take place next summer will be the 12th Ironman race in North America and the second one in Canada with both of them taking place in August. The new race in Mont-Tremblant will give those triathletes in Eastern Canada a new race option.

Athletes will start the 2.4-mile (3.8 km) swim in Tremblant Lake. The two-loop, 112-mile (180 km) bike course runs largely through Mont-Tremblant's forests and mountains. Athletes will then embark on the two-loop, 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run course into the heart of the pedestrian village of Tremblant Resort.
Mont-Tremblant is a village in the Laurentian mountains of Quebec, Canada, approximately 130 kilometers / 81 miles north-west of Montreal and 140 kilometers / 87 miles north-east of Ottawa. Mont-Tremblant is most famous for ski resorts such as the Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort, which is 13 kilometres from the village proper and where the race will be staged from.
Online registration for the 2012 Ironman Mont-Tremblant will open on June 15, 2011.
