McCormack to Race TriStar111 Madrid and TriStar111 Berlin


tristar111 macca(Monte Carlo, Monaco) - Chris McCormack, the best long distance triathlete today and one of the best ever, has confirmed his participation in two of the upcoming new TriStar111 events, Madrid on July 2nd-3rd and Berlin on July 17th. Macca, who is a global ambassador of the TriStar series, likes the value of these new competitions permitting drafting which will be showcased in two unique European destinations this year. In addition to the two TriStar111 competitions, he will also form part of a team in the first ever TriStar TEAM Madrid.

Chris McCormack, ITU World Champion and two time Hawaiian Ironman World Champion, has confirmed his expected participation in two other TriStar111 races for 2011. Macca has registered to compete in TriStar111 Madrid on the 3rd of July and TriStar111 Berlin just 15 days later, on the 17th of July. In addition, the Australian triathlete does not want to miss out on the chance to debut in the new team competition (five triathletes competing together), so he will also participate in the TriStar TEAM Madrid, to be held on Saturday the 2nd of July, the day before the inaugural TriStar111 Madrid.

Macca will be present in two of Europe's most innovative triathlon competitions this summer with the recent announcement of drafting in Madrid and Berlin. It will be a great personal challenge as it will also serve as preparation for the ITU Olympic distance tests (which also permit drafting) ahead of his possible involvement in the 2012 London Olympics Games.

Both TriStar111 Madrid and TriStar111 Berlin will take place over a distance of 111 km (1 km swim, 100 km bike and 10 km run), officially recognized by the International Triathlon Union this week. The TriStar TEAM Madrid, world premiere on July 2nd in the capital of Spain, also takes place over 111 km with teams of five members competing together to reach the finish line as a team. These teams will have the chrono-bike style with assistance car, mechanics, a team manager, and custom team clothing.

'Macca' is one of the most charismatic athletes and one of the most followed around the world with over 30,000 friends in Facebook and more than 14,000 followers on Twitter. In 2010 he participated in TriStar111 Worms, TriStar111 Monaco and TriStar111 Estonia, and in 2011 he has already participated in TriStar111 Mallorca and TriStar111 Nevis, where he won. He has confirmed that he will also compete in a numner of other TriStar races later this year.

The TriStar world series has eleven destinations in total. Macca declared that "TriStar is overcoming the barriers of long distance sports setting new and unique interesting challenges", while also stating that "TriStar organizes the races as I prepare for my competitions."

Madrid and Berlin join the list of global TriStar destinations: Berlin (Germany), Split (Croatia), Nevis (SKN), Mallorca (ESP), Worms (GER), Madrid (ESP ), Minnesota (USA), Lyon (FRA), Otepää (EST), Monaco (MON) and Sardinia (ITA).
