Triathlon: Captiva South Seas Triathlon

A new triathlon event in Southwest Florida has been added to the triathlon calendar with the addition of the new Captiva South Seas Triathlon. The inaugural and island's first-ever triathlon event is set to take place on Captiva Island, which is north of Sanibel Island and just off the coast of Fort Meyers, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico.
The triathlon event will take place at the South Seas Resort and is being billed as a weekend of Family, Fitness and Fun... The event features a Kids Triathlon on Saturday as well as a 5K, Fitness Fair and other Kids Activities. Kids 6 to 9-year-olds will compete in a 100yd Swim, 1.5mi Bike and a 1/2mi Run. Kids 10 to 13-year-old will face a 200yd Swim, 3mi Bike and a 1mi Run. The adults sprint distance triathlon takes place on Sunday and will consist of a 1/4mi Swim, 10mi Bike and a 3.1mi Run.
Athletes will get to swim in the pristine waters off Captiva Island in the Gulf of Mexico, bike along the tree lined water way on a closed course and run on the manicured golf course of South Seas Resort.
Registration for the USAT sanctioned event opened on June 1st, 2011. The Captiva South Seas Triathlon event is limited to 500 participants. Entry fees are as follows: Kids Triathlon ($20.00), Individual Entry ($75.00) and Relay ($180.00).
Special athlete room rates of $99/night and $129.00/night are available at the South Seas Resort.
