Ironman 70.3 Results from EagleMan, Kansas, Boise, Italy


im703ovallogo.jpgAgain it was a busy weekend (June 11-12, 2011) in the global Ironman 70.3 Series which saw 4 races take place, three in the United States and an inaugural event in Italy. Professional triathletes were spread out and racing in Maryland, Kansas, Idaho and Pescara, Italy for a chance to gain valuable Kona Qualifying Points or qualifying slots to the Ironman World Championship 70.3 race in Hendorson, Nevada.

Ironman 70.3 EagleMan and Ironman 70.3 Kansas were the marque event of the weekend with both having a $50,000 purse prize and 750 KPR points for 1st place. Ironman 70.3 Boise and Ironman 70.3 Italy had $15,000 up for grabs and 500 KPR points for 1st place.

Solid Wins for Ben Hoffman, Magali Tisseyre at Ironman 70.3 Boise
The unique afternoon setting for the Boise race proved just right for Ben Hoffman and Magali Tisseyre as they solidify 2-minute victories over the second place competitors.

Italian's Daniel Fontana and Martina Dogana victorious on home turf at inaugural Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Pescara, Italy. More than 1,000 triathletes from 47 countries took part in the action on the Italian coast.

TJ Tollakson, Mirinda Carfrae Win 2nd Ironman 70.3 EagleMan Titles
It was a double-double in Cambridge, Maryland as both TJ Tollakson and Mirinda Carfrae win their second Ironman 70.3 EagleMan titles and a piece of the $50,000 prize purse. Tollakson won the race back in 2007 while Carfrae last won the race in 2009.

Chrissie Wellington Defends, Paul Matthews Wins Ironman 70.3 Kansas Triathlon
Chrissie Wellington successfully defended her Ironman 70.3 Kansas title for the third time today by holding off Leanda Cave. Paul Matthews used his quick run and fast bike to notch a 6-minute advantage over second place David Kahn and the rest of the men's field.
