DENVER, CO - The Tri for the Cure is a Denver tradition popular for its women-only format that includes all ages, athletic abilities and fitness levels. Its emphasis on accessibility and sheer girl power has made the event known throughout the triathlon community. In 2011, the Tri will expand to include a new competitive wave for veteran triathletes seeking to race with a more competitive spirit.
"The Tri for the Cure has always been about women supporting women. The new competitive wave gives experienced athletes an opportunity to further challenge themselves while still participating in the feel-good atmosphere that embodies the Tri," says event founder Amy Downing.

About the Tri for the Cure
Since 2004, the Tri for the Cure has grown to be the largest sprint-distance triathlon in the United States. Its growth can be attributed to Colorado's athletic spirit, the strength of its beneficiary (Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure), and a format built to include women of all ages, athletic abilities and fitness levels. The course includes a half-mile swim, 11.4-mile bike ride and 3.1-mile run.
Beyond the personal impacts, Tri racers also make a difference for others. In the past seven years, through a combination of registration revenue and pledge dollars, participants have raised over $800,000 for The Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of Susan G Komen for the Cure.
Tri for the Cure participants are provided with all the training tools and support they need to succeed through the Tri's website, talks and training events conducted by professional triathletes. Race registration costs $95 for individuals and $150 for teams of two or three. Prices increase May 30, 2011.
