Raelert, Lidbury Take Inaugural Ironman 70.3 Mallorca Triathlon


ironman 70.3 mallorca LidburyMore than 1,800 triathletes from 47 countries were on-hand on the island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean for inaugural running of the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Mallorca. Andreas Raelert and Emma-Kate Lidbury are victorious in Alcúdia, winning the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Mallorca triathlon event in an race that feature close to 40 pro triathletes.

The race featured many European professional due to its proximity to the mainland and offered an opportunity for those to gain qualifying points for the Ironman World Championship race. Bertrand Billard and Sylvain Sudrie both of France took second and third. Erica Csomor and Silvia Felt took second and third on the women's side.

This was one of the 4 new races in Europe added to the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Series last year. The race featured 35 Age Group qualifying slots to the 2011 Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Las Vegas later this year.
