A new extreme off-road triathlon is set to take place next year in the United Kingdom. The new X-Man is being billed as the world's first long distance off-road triathlon. The extreme triathlon starts in Eastbourne and finishes 140 miles away in Salisbury. The event is for anyone that lives to push beyond accepted limits, break boundaries, and never, never, never gives up.
Triathlon: X-Man UK
When: Saturday, July 14, 2012
Where: Eastbourne to Salisbury, United Kingdom
Website: www.endurancelife.com
X-Man takes the standard long distance triathlon format and turns the volume right up to eleven. The hybrid blend of the standard triathlon disciplines, challenging off-road terrain and spectacular landscapes will result in an epic challenge of super-human endurance. All that makes those that conquer the quest worthy indeed of the X-Man title.
The X-Man distances will consist of a 2.4 mile open water sea Swim, 112 mile multi-terrain, 90% off-road Bike and 26.2 mile trail Run. Participants are required to make a non-stop journey on grueling off-road terrain across awe inspiring natural landscapes with serious vertical gain. Much of the bike leg takes place during hours of darkness and aside from water athletes must be nutritionally self sufficient from start to finish.
The off-road race course slices through some of the most quintessentially British countryside around. It may not be a treat that you enjoy at the time, but you are guaranteed to look back on it as one of the best journeys of your life.
Due to logistical restrictions and environmental considerations the X-Man UK race will be strictly limited to 120 participants. If you are interested, sign-up early at the event website.
The race is being organized by Endurancelife which offers adventure sporting events in the UK. Plans are to develop the X-Man into an international series, with the first ever X-Man taking place on the South Coast of England in the summer of 2012.
