Lavaman Triathlon to Determine Best of the U.S. Team Hawaii

lavamantribous.jpgApril 1, 2011 -- The Top Three amateur residents of Hawaii finishing Sunday's Lavaman Triathlon in Waikoloa, will officially be named "Team Hawaii" and be invited to race at the 2011 Best of the U.S. Amateur National Championship on September 10th.

"Best of the U.S. gives competitive amateur triathletes from all over the country the chance to race each other head-to-head, regardless of their age," said Co-Director Trudy Marshall.

"Back in 2005, few people outside of Hawaii knew of Bree Wee, although she was winning lots of local races. She finished 8th at the National Championship that year. Two years later she produced a mind-blowing age 25-29 World Record in her very first Ironman race and is now a legend and a pro racer," said Marshall. "We hope all six of Hawaii's athletes can find their way to the Championship in Alabama this September 10th, for this unique competitive opportunity. You never know who might emerge as the next phenoms."

The Lavaman Triathlon now in it's 13th year was featured in Triathlete Magazine's 100 Best Triathlons On Earth in 2010 in the 10 Most Scenic Races Category.
