Nevada Triathletes Ready to Qualify for Best of the U.S. Amateur Championship

rage triathlon logoApril 14, 2011 -- Six Nevadans will earn National Championship berths this Saturday at Lake Mead in the 8th Annual Olympic Distance RAGE Triathlon race. The qualifiers will officially be named "Team Nevada" and will be invited to race at the 2011 Best of the U.S. Amateur National Championship on September 10th. Each U.S. state has a single designated Qualifier Race; although athletes from any state can compete, only Nevada residents can qualify at the RAGE Triathlon.

"The state of Nevada is becoming quite a triathlon mecca," said Best of the U.S. Director Trudy Marshall. "There is some real triathlon talent here, and we appreciate quality races like Rage where amateurs receive the spotlight they deserve."

Regardless of their age, the top three amateur resident men and women earn their way to the National Championship race on September 10th in Gulf Shores, Alabama. There the athletes are treated to the unique opportunity to race head-to-head against only the top three from every other state.

"Don't underestimate the competitive drive of these athletes," said Marshall. "It's thrilling to watch teens, twenty-, thirty-, and even forty-somethings from every corner of the country go at it. Best of the U.S. provides that chance."

The BBSC Endurance Sports RAGE Triathlon is Sold Out and will have 1,000 amateur triathletes racing this weekend. The event features three races, a Sprint Triathlon, and Olympic Triathlon and a Half Iron. The Best of the U.S. Qualifier triathlon is the Olympic Distance Race.

Nevada's results will be announced Saturday on BestOfTheUSTriSeries.com
