Back in early 2006 Bevan Eyles made a suggestion to his triathlon coach John Newsom about doing a triathlon podcast. "When Bevan mentioned the podcast idea I didn't even know what a podcast was but it sounded like a bit of fun so I thought it was worth investigating" said John. Since then it's been a perfect match of experience and knowledge for the pair of Kiwi's.
Back then the pair name came up with the idea for IronmanTalk, the iron distance triathlon podcast, which was FREE and available via iTunes. Since then the name has changed to IMTalk (letter from a lawyer) but the quality and insight in the sport of triathlon continues. The podcast now in its 5th year boost a cult like following of triathletes from all over the world, some who listen to the show during their workouts.
For the 5 year anniversary and their 259th episode the pair got interviewed by Tom Williams from Marathon Talk. Find out what they have to say about the first five years of IMTalk.
The podcasts are usually 60 minutes in length and are available every Monday via iTunes or their website www.imtalk.me. Unlike some other podcasts, their podcasts are humorous and informative with a laid back approach. Their focus is on iron distance triathlon events and long distance athletes around the world. Each show brings you up-to-date with News and Race Results followed up with topics such as Discussion of the Week, Age Grouper of the Week and Website of the Week. From time-to-time the podcast features Coaches Corner, where John answers training related questions or has in-depth training related topics. Other times the podcast has in-depth interviews with pro triathletes or special triathlon related guests.
Recently, the IMTalk broadcasters overcame a major earthquake in the Christchurch area, which had fans franticly checking their well being. They and their families overcame the major devastation that hit the city. Within weeks, the pair reached out to their friends in the triathlon community to raise funds for the earthquake victims. With the ebay auctions they were able to raise at least if not more than NZ$20,000.
If you have never heard of them or listented to a show, you should. Find out more about IMTalk at www.imtalk.me or on iTunes.

We had a chance to meet the guys in Kona a few years ago, they are really down to earth and cool guys. In our opinion, IMTalk is the world's number one Iron Distance / Ironman triathlon podcast available today. We don't say this because TRIJUICE content is sometimes featured on their podcast, we say it because we listen to the show and love it!
