Eugene, Oregon, known as Track Town USA and home of the Fighting Ducks will now be able to brag about a new triathlon event set to take place this summer. The new and inaugural Triathlon Eugene event is to take place in August at Richardson Park in Lane County. This is the third new major triathlon set to take place in Oregon this summer.
"Triathlon Eugene: The Oregon Challenge" is intended to become one of the premier triathlon event in Oregon.

Triathlon Eugene will take athletes on a challenging tour showcasing Lane County; it will offer a Long, Short, and Youth Course for participants of all ages and skill levels. The events will consist of the following: Triangle Lake Long Course: 1km Swim, 50mi Bike, 10km Run, the Fern Ridge Short Course: .5km Swim, 24mi Bike, 5km Run and the Youth & Family Course: 200yd Swim, 9mi Bike, 2.5km Run.
The swim will take place in Fern Ridge Reservoir, nestled in the Coast Range foothills; the bike course will send riders west towards the coast on a scenic, undulating tour with the Long Course climbing to an elevation of 1022ft. before returning to Richardson Park for the final leg, the run. All run courses will utilize the Park's internal roads and paths; the Long and Short Courses will venture outside of the Park on Clear Lake Road and return to finish inside the Park.
Triathlon Eugene is establishing itself as a self-sustaining event with long-term realization, strongly linked to the city and region that engages the local community in a sport promoting health, fitness, and camaraderie as well as philanthropy and social & environmental responsibility.
The event will be managed by Pacific Sports which operates various other triathlon events across the country including these: Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon, Newport Beach Triathlon, and Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon in Dallas.
