The inaugural Atlantic City International Triathlon event set for September will feature virtually everything Atlantic City has to offer. The swim will be in the ocean in front of the casinos, with the bike staging area on the main floor of Boardwalk Hall. The bike course will take athletes on to the Atlantic City Expressway, with the right lane and shoulder being closed off for the riders, including the Atlantic City Expressway Connector - the tunnel - which will be closed to traffic. Following that the run will take athletes on to the famous Boardwalk.

The race, which is open to 1,000 athletes, will consist of a 1mi ocean swim, a 27mi bike route, and 10km run on the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and promises to give triathletes a course and experience like no other.

With the addition of the first ever staging area in Historic Boardwalk Hall's main event arena and a bike loop through the tunnel portion of the Atlantic City Connector, this race truly leaves other Triathlons in the dust.

"Atlantic City has a history of great sporting events that incorporate the spirit of the city. When creating the Atlantic City International Triathlon, we wanted to keep with tradition and highlight the Atlantic Ocean and Boardwalk, as well as Historic Boardwalk Hall," said Race Director Stephen Del Monte. "You've undoubtedly experience a concert in Boardwalk Hall but I can't wait to see people like you and me really competing in it."

Competitors will begin the one-mile swim portion of the course by entering the Atlantic Ocean a few blocks south of the Hilton Casino at Albany Avenue and swimming along the shoreline to Mississippi Avenue in front of The Pier Shops at Caesars. Athletes will then leave Boardwalk Hall through the Pacific Avenue loading dock area and travel to the bike route on the Atlantic City Expressway where they will exit the West Bound lane and re-enter on the Expressway East Bound lane. Exiting the tunnel section of the Atlantic City Connector marks the turnaround to begin the second and third loop. The final loop has competitors re-entering Boardwalk Hall for the second transition into the 10km run on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, finishing in front of Bally's Atlantic City.

Registration for the Atlantic City International Triathlon is now open and available on www.active.com for a fee of $150 until May 31st. Then registration increases to $175. There will not be any same day registration available. Only the first 1,000 registers will be accepted. Note: Add $10 per Non-USAT Member will need to add $10 for a one day license. The event also has a Relay Team option.
