Setup a Cycle for ALS Event this February for the Blazeman Foundation

A Call to Action! Endurance Athletes from Coast to Coast Should Unite and Wage War on ALS this February! Do an Indoor Bike Workout for a Great Cause and Our Friend Jon "Blazeman" Blais, Who Lost His Life to ALS.

cycle for alsx logo 2011It's been cold and snowy this winter and who knows what we might see this February. Here is a GREAT opportunity to hang out with friends and get an indoor bike workout and at the same time raise money for the War on ALS!

For the sixth straight year The Blazeman Foundation for ALS is calling for a all endurance athletes, cyclists, and volunteers of all athletic abilities to hop on bicycles on a day of their choosing, in the month of February at YMCA's, gyms and communities across the country for the sixth annual Cycle for ALS (www.cycleforals.com). Proceeds will benefit The Blazeman Foundation for ALS (www.WaronALS.com).

In October of 2005, Jon "Blazeman" Blais became the first person with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) to finish an Ironman event. He completed the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run in 16.5 hours to honor all past and present PALS (people with ALS). As Blazeman "Kona Rolled" across the finish line in Hawaii, he challenged all endurance athletes to help find a cure for ALS. You can watch a brief video on Jon and his story on YouTube.

Planning to have the biggest event ever, the organizers are looking for volunteers to set up spin-a-thons in communities nationwide throughtout the month of February. This will be the sixth annual event designed to raise awareness and funding on behalf of Ironman Jon "Blazeman" Blais's self declared "War on ALS". Blazeman lost his battle with ALS in 2007 at age 35. The event was launched in February 2006 by "Triathletes Who Care", and continues today thanks to dedicated volunteers working on behalf of The Blazeman Foundation for ALS.

The 2011 event is an opportunity for triathlon clubs, multi-sport coaches, and individual athletes to kick-start the 2011 season together with a group cycle or spin marathon when most of the North American continent is still hibernating from the cold. Visit the Cycle for ALS website for instructions on setting up a successful event. Click this link to setup a FREE Active Giving web page to collect donation for the event.

He was determined to prove that nothing, not even ALS, would stop him.

Inspired by Blazeman's ineffable spirit and passion, volunteers are determined to make the 2011 event bigger and better than ever, and they are asking for your help.
Here is how You can help. Gather your family, friends, training buddies, tri-clubs and host an event in your community, or simply participate in an already planned event near you. Help keep Jon's dream alive by lending your financial support and contributing to the crusade against ALS.

Please spin in support of Blazeman and all PALS on the day you choose in the month of February. We have our event, do you?
