The Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 South Africa is never anything short of exhilarating for both the athletes and spectators. This year however, the race will be taken to the next level not only with the highest ever field of athletes but with the incredible list of PRO athletes. This year's women's PRO field is the most exciting to date and will undoubtedly provide all the thrills and spills necessary to provide the spectators edge-of-your-seat action.
There is nothing like a good battle to set the ball rolling and the women's PRO field has all the makings of strong tussle between die-hard competitors. Fans of the sport and general spectators can get ready for a day of racing that is sure to get the blood pumping. With the likes of reigning Ironman 70.3 world champion, Jodie Swallow (GBR), former Ironman 70.3 South Africa champion, Lucie Zelenkova (CZE), former Ironman France champion, Tine Deckers (BEL), reigning Ironman South Africa champion, Sonja Tajsich (GER) and defending Ironman 70.3 South Africa champion, Mari Rabie, picking a winner from this talented bunch is almost as tough as the event itself.
Jodie Swallow will have the inside track and the tag of favourite having demolished the field at the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater. The other female PROs will have something to prove against what some now feel is the best in the business. There is one thing that you can count on, and that is that every athlete will be out giving it 100% in an effort to take the title of Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 South Africa champion. The big winners on the day will ultimately be the spectators as they get to witness a world class array of talent right here in East London.
