For those athletes patiently awaiting the news, Ironman China and & Ironman 70.3 China entries are going on sale Friday, January 7 at 1pm CST. Both races are set to take place in just over 5 months.
General entry for the combined 2011 Ironman China and Ironman 70.3 China event - to take place on the new date of Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Jixian, Tianjin Province (50 minutes from Beijing International Airport) - will open on Friday, January 7 at 1pm CST. Early bird prices will be available until Monday, January 31.
Ironman China is one the last remaining global events open to general entry that will offer qualifying slots to the 2011 Ford Ironman World Championship. Ironman China entry will start at $500 USD, increasing to $550 USD after January 31.
Ironman 70.3 China entry will start at $200, increasing to $220 USD after January 31. The Ironman 70.3 China relay entry fee will be $575.
The event's new host city of Jixian, Tianjin Province, is conveniently located 50-minute drive east from the Beijing International Airport (PEK), making the 2011 event easily accessible to China's growing triathlon participatory base and other major international cities. There are more than 40 triathlon clubs within driving distance of the venue and it is also within a day-trip of sections of The Great Wall and other China attractions.
Ironman China will feature 50 qualifying slots to the 2011 Ford Ironman World Championship, held in Kailua-Kona, HI. The Ironman 70.3 China event includes 25 qualifying slots to the 2011 Ironman World Championship 70.3, held in Lake Las Vegas, NV and is also an official qualifying event for the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship.
