This international championship event joins two other sub-regional championships in the Americas in 2011: the ITU/PATCO South American Junior Championship and the ITU/PATCO Central American and Caribbean Junior Championship. Each sub-regional championship will earn participating National Federations starting positions at the 2011 ITU/PATCO Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada, on July 9-10, 2011. In total, 12 starting positions per gender are allocated to each sub-regional championship. National Federations will determinate separately how individual athletes will claim those spots for Edmonton.
