Janus Charity Challenge Ironman Partnership Ends


Janus Charity Challenge logoOver the past decade, Janus has been privileged to be a major sponsor of the Ironman U.S. race series. Our relationship enabled Janus and Ironman athletes to make a difference in communities around the world by raising more than $47 million for hundreds of charities throughout the United States, making the Challenge a resounding success and a point of pride for all involved.

Given the deep impact this program has made on so many individuals, nonprofits and communities, we are disappointed to announce that our sponsorship with Ironman will not be continuing in 2011. While the program will remain in effect for Ironman Florida and Arizona in 2010, we were not able to structure an ongoing partnership with Ironman that would be mutually beneficial to both organizations.

Please know that Janus' commitment to helping communities thrive has not waivered. We are currently exploring several different options for the continuation of this program under a different structure, and we will post information here if we find an opportunity to do so.

One day, 140.6 miles, one race -- the Ironman. It's unlike any other competitive athletic event in the world, arguably the greatest test of physical strength and endurance a triathlete could attempt. But it takes much more than just stamina to compete in this race. It takes passion, focus and discipline. The same traits that embody Janus' approach to investing.

But we also direct our passion toward making a positive difference in the communities in which our clients live. By investing our financial and intellectual resources in events that align with our company's ideals and creating unique programs that add more value to the participants' experience, we hope to enrich communities and lives. It is this passion that led to our sponsorship of the Ironman U.S., full-distance events and to the development of the Janus Charity Challenge.

Since its inception in 2001, the Janus Charity Challenge has helped Ironman participants raise more than $40 million for nonprofits across the United States. The program offers athletes the flexibility to race for the charity they are most passionate about and provides them with tools and tips to make fundraising easy and effective. Better yet, Janus rewards the top 50 fundraisers at each race with additional charitable donations, totaling nearly $378,000 each year.

Our goal is to ensure that those who participate in the Janus Charity Challenge walk away from the race with something much more powerful than a medal and memories. We want them to recognize that their passion, focus and commitment are just as valuable off the race course as they are on the race course, and that by applying these same traits to fundraising, they can make a positive difference in the lives of others.
