Amica 19.7 Phoenix Adds International Distance Triathlon


amica 19.7 triathlon series logoThe 2010 Amica 19.7 Phoenix triathlon which is part of the National Sprint Distance Series known as Amica 19.7 Triathlon Series is set to take place later this year at Lake Pleasant Park on November 7, 2010 in Arizona. In addition to the Sprint distance triathlon, an International Distance triathlon has just been added to the schedule to take place on the same day. The new distance will feature a 1.5km Swim, a 34km Bike ride and a 10km Run.

"Only in its second year, the Amica 19.7 Phoenix is rapidly increasing in popularity. We are pleased to enhance the event with the addition of an international distance for those triathletes who like a longer distance," said Brewer Rowe, race director for the Amica 19.7 Phoenix. "By adding an international distance, the event offers something for a variety of competitors."

The International distance triathlon will kick off the day's events at 7 a.m. on November 7, 2010. The 19.7 Sprint distance race, which features a half-mile swim, 16.1-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run, follows at 8 a.m. Both race distances are open to pros and age groupers. The Amica 19.7 Phoenix race will host the series championship where the Pros will compete for a $20,000 prize purse.

The 2010 Amica 19.7 Phoenix is the final race of the 10-stop, nationwide Amica 19.7 Triathlon Series.
