Today American's Ben Hoffman wins his 1st Ironman title while Amy Marsh gets her second Ironman victory of 2010 today at Ironman Lake Placid. Windy and cool conditions greeted today's 2,600+ athletes in Lake Placid.
Hoffman, in only his fourth Ironman race ever gets his first Ironman title with today's win over a charging Petr Vabrousek and defending champion, Maik Twelsiek. In May he finished second at the inaugural and tough Ironman St. George event. His first place finish wasn't the only impressive thing today; his time was the ninth fastest time in history on this course. He was right there coming into T2 along with Twelsiek and then took control out on the run course as time went on, gaining time on Twelsiek. Vabrousek of the Czech Republic had a faster run than Hoffman today, but his eleven minute deficit on the bike course and three minute deficit from the swim proved to be too much today to catch Hoffman, but it was enough to pass Twelsiek for a very impressive 2nd place finish today.
TeamTBB member Marsh wins her 3rd Ironman title in less than a year, winning last year's Ironman Wisconsin race and this year's Ironman China race. She was first out of the water and pretty much lead from start to finish ending the day with her best marathon split ever. Caitlin Snow made up 15 minutes on the marathon but unfortunately she started the marathon about 31 minutes behind March, she takes 2nd place today. Her husband Tim Snow on the men's pro side finished in 5th place today.

Bryan Rhodes who was first out of the water today and was in the lead during the portions of the bike suffered something today (still checking) while out on the bike and then out on the run. Kudos to him for not giving up and finishing the race even though his bike time was 5:02:38 and his marathon was 4:20:29.
Ryan Sutter, the former pro football player who became famous when he married Bachelorette Trista Rehn finished today in 11:06:37. He was here as part of his 101010 Challenge to raise money for First Descents.
Notable DNF's for the day Jason Shortis, he broke a spoke early in the race and had to call it a day.
