New Mediterranean Race Announced, Ironman 70.3 Mallorca


ironman 70.3 mallorcaA new Ironman 70.3 Series race has been added to the 2011 calendar with the announcement of the inaugural Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca triathlon set to take place on May 14, 2011 on the island of Mallorca. Majorca is the largest island of Spain and is located in the Mediterranean Sea and part of the Balearic Islands archipelago, one of the autonomous communities of Spain. The Spanish island, known as a training paradise to many cyclists and triathletes, will host a qualifying race for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship for the first time.

The host city of Alcudia is located in the north of the island and offers ideal conditions for the race. It will become the first race of the European Ironman 70.3 season, where athletes can test their form in mild temperatures.

This will be the sixth European Ironman 70.3 event and the first one in Spain. It becomes the 41st Ironman 70.3 qualifying race for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
