Victories for Bozzone & Morrison at Ironman 70.3 St. Croix

ironman st croix 70.3Catriona Morrison defends her title while Terenzo Bozzone beats defending champion Timothy O'Donnell today at the Ironman 70.3 St. Croix triathlon in the US Virgin Islands.

The Trek / K-Swiss team members' finish 1, 2 again as Bozzone gets back-to-back 70.3 victories. Last weekend Bozzone won the Ironman 70.3 US Pro Championship in Texas also defeating O'Donnell. It's Bozzone's first time racing in St. Croix. O'Donnell and Bozzone were neck and neck through the last stages of the run when Bozzone pulled ahead at the last aid station. He flew up the final hill before the finish line and finishes just 37 second ahead of O'Donnell.

Morrison victory last year had to have helped her today. Morrison was on fire on the run and blew away her competition, finishing in a time of 4:31:06, 11 minutes ahead of second place Sam Warriner and 10th place overall. Her fast pace today probably means no-pay day for some of the top 5 women.

Previous Ironman 70.3 St. Croix champ Craig Alexander crashed on the bike course and dropped out of the race. His bike is toast and it sounds like he has some good road rash. Mirinda Carfrae, the 2008 St. Croix champ did not start the race, sounds like she was sick over night.

Again live race coverage of today's St. Croix Ironman 70.3 was via a streaming audio feed from the Isle 95 (WJKC 95.1 FM) radio station. It was very good, unique and interesting.
