Over the course of the weekend, athletes will swim 80-degree waters in Guanacaste, the northwest providence in Costa Rica, while spectators observe from white sandy beaches. The bike course will take the athletes through varying landscapes throughout northern Costa Rica, amid miles of untouched natural forests, mountains and beachfront communities. The run course will begin at the beach, where athletes will run adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, enter through a small "Tico" town filled with cheering locals and back through the race venue. Athletes are sure to get a flavor of Costa Rica with each carefully designed course.
They definelty will have something for everyone with the 3 race options being made available, Sprint Distance, Olympic Distand and Half Iron.
Last year Revolution 3 expanded its triathlon series from 1 race to 3 with the addition of races in Sandusky, Ohio and Knoxville, Tennessee. The expansion also gave the series total exposure in the triathlon market, now having races from Sprint Distance to Iron Distance. In its first year, it received much praise with its Half Rev event in Middlebury, Connecticut from everyone who participated. Now they look to take that into this year's series and expand it internationally next year.
"It's like a dream come true," states Sylvia Gonzles, Vice President of the Costa Rica Triathlon Federation, "to have an international triathlon of this caliber come into Costa Rica. It's something we've always wanted to do. We will make a beautiful triathlon and everyone will be happy to experience something different."
Registration of the event will open soon, and will be available here. Each athlete will receive an event tech shirt, finisher's medal, Rev3 hat or visor, Rev3 sling bag, and much more. Additionally, athletes will be offered special pricing on tourist excursions.
