A new Half Iron Distance triathlon is set to take place later this year in the Patagonia region of Argentina. Here's a perfect opportunity to extend your season with an international event. The inaugural Las Grutas Triathlon will take place this November in Las Grutas, a beach resort town located in the Argentine province of Río Negro. Its main attraction consists of its magnificent beaches, white sand, deep blue, transparent waters, which are the warmest in Argentina. The city is located 1087km (675mi) South of Buenos Aires on the Atlantic coast.

The race will consist of the standard half iron distances of 1.9km Swim, 90km Bike, 21km Run. The race will feature 2 loops on the swim, a 6 loop bike course and a 4 loop run course. The inaugural race will be limited to 300 participants.
Event organizers couldn't believe there was a place like this in Argentina, so perfect for a triathlon, thus the new event. The transparent ocean waters protected by the Gulf of San Matías, an access road in perfect conditions with a panoramic view of the Gulf and an asphalted promenade road makes Las Grutas a perfect scenario for triathlon.

- Athletes from Argentina: $490 (Argentina Pesos)
- Athletes from Río Negro: $390 (Argentina Pesos)
- Athletes from SAO and Comarca Patagones-Viedma: $290 (Argentina Pesos)
- Teams: $250 - each participant of the team (Argentina Pesos)
Registration closes on November 5, 2010 or when the participant limit is reached.
