Race organizers along with Spain native Javier Gómez Noya have announced a new long distance triathlon event in Robledo de Chavela, Spain called Astromad. The new triathlon event set to take place on September 11, 2010 will be the first long distance triathlon race in the Madrid area. Robledo de Chavela is located about 60 - 70 kilometers west of Madrid.

Astromad will consist of a 3.8km Swim, 180km Bike, 42.1km Run. The race will feature the beauty of the area have a challenging enough bike course to say the least. The video is in Spanish but will show you some of the course, especially the challenging bike course.
The event will be the fourth event in a new triathlon series that is being developed to promote the sport in the country. The series will be composed of four races, the first three will be Olympic Distance triathlon events and finish with Astromad, The Olympic Distance event will take place in Canet de Berenguer (May 16), Avila (June 27) and Segovie (July 17). With the birth of this circuit, the organizers hope to revolutionize the concept of sports event in Spain, with entertainment and innovation around each event.
Registration is currently open for the new Astromad long distance triathlon event in Robledo de Chavela. The price before April 30th seems to be 300 € or approximately $405. The price goes up after that so make sure to register early. See the website for details: www.astromad.com
