The number of races in the highly popular Ironman 70.3 Series continues to climb with the addition of two new races on the 2011 racing schedule. According to our count there are 44 races currently on the 2011 schedule including the Ironman World Championship 70.3 race and the new Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship. But wait, there seems to be news a brewing based on details in both press releases on Ironmna.com, we could have a couple more races on the schedule by the time everything is said and done.
Ironman Australia in Port Macquarie which will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary this weekend will have a new participant option next year with the addition of an Ironman 70.3 taking place on the same day. It's the rebirth of the old Ironman 70.3 Australia race that once took place in Port Macquarie before the Ironman 70.3 race was moved to Geelong in 2008 and the possible demise of the independent Port Macquarie Half Ironman which takes place in the fall, but maybe not see, stay tuned to www.australianhalfironmanseries.com for additional news and details.
News comes today that a second and new Ironman 70.3 race will take place in the Caribbean with the announcement of Ironman 70.3 San Juan. The new race set to take place in mid-March will kick-off next year's Ironman 70.3 racing schedule in North America. The kick-off for the 2010 Ironman 70.3 racing calendar takes place this weekend with the Ironman 70.3 California race in Oceanside, California.

Both of the new 70.3 races will over Relay entries. Ironman 70.3 San Juan will have a participant cap of 2,000 athletes. The new Ironman 70.3 San Juan races will offer 40 qualifying slots to the 2011 Ironman World Championship 70.3, held in Clearwater, Florida but it's unclear how many Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie.
The Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie will also be a qualifier event for the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship, held in Phuket, Thailand.
The date for the new Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie and Ironman Australia will be determined and announced once this year race take places.

• Team Entry: $300 before May 31st, 2010, $350 after June 1st, 2010
