All of the registered athletes are currently training to get ready to conquer this year's Classic distance or the new Olympic distance triathlon event. They will be joined by professional and/or celebrity athletes to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Last year's event raised $137,500 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!
Chris McCormack, the 2007 Ironman World Champion, will be returning to South Beach! Macca, who competed in the first ever Nautica South Beach Triathlon in 2008, is back with a purpose in 2010:
"To be back racing in Miami again will be a real buzz. Whenever I get the opportunity to support MESP and the wonderful triathlon events they put on around the USA, I seize them. I competed in Miami 2 years ago and fell short of the win. I am looking forward to returning to South Beach to try and capture my first title on this course. I look forward to meeting everyone and racing in one of the most picturesque events on the USA Triathlon Racing Calander, and as with all MESP events for a great cause." - Chris McCormack
