Mayan X-Tri - New Eco Xtreme Off-Road Triathlon


mayan x-triHere is a new triathlon event on the Mexican triathlon calendar. The Mayan X-Tri - The Eco Xtreme Triathlon will feature beautiful scenery in the Mexican Riviera Maya and challenging course.

Mayan X-Tri, was an idea developed by MTB Cancun & the Riviera Maya, together with The Way of the Jaguar, Eco Aventura Punta Venado and Elite Cyclery. The partnership seeks to serve triathletes, cyclists, runners and swimmers across the board from local, state, regional, national and international with a unique and extreme event. It's being billed as an Eco-Friendly event, showing that humans can coexist and interact with respect in nature, which is the heart of one of the most renowned tourist destination in Mexican Riviera Maya.

The Mayan X-Tri will consist of a 1,5km (0.93mi) Ocean Swim - 20km (12.43mi) Off-Road Bike - 8km (4.97mi) Trekking Run for Age Groupers and Relays. They will also have a course for 16 to 19 year olds: Swim 0.46mi - Bike 6.21mi - Run 4.48mi


The event will be staged at the Eco Aventura Punta Venado, an ecological park that is located about 5km from Playa del Carmen, a popular tourist destination in the Riviera Maya south of Cancun.

Prices before April 10, 2010:
Age Groups - 650 pesos (around $50.00 USD)
Team Relay - 1,500 pesos (around $116.00 USD)

Prices after April 10, 2010:
Age Groups - 850 pesos (around $66.00 USD)
Team Relay - 1,800 pesos (around $139.00 USD)
