Asian Expansion Continues with New Ironman 70.3 Japan


ironman 70.3 japanIronman 70.3's Asian expansion continues with the announcement of the newest race in the series, Ironman 70.3 Japan. This brings the number of Ironman 70.3 events in Asia to 6 if you include the newly announced Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship set to take place in Phuket, Thailand in December.

The new race is scheduled for September 19, 2010 and will take place in Tokoname, Japan. Situated near the city of Nagoya in the Aichi Prefecture, Japan's fourth largest city, the race unfolds in the Tokoname City precinct surrounding the Centrair International Airport, a spacious and scenic area south of the city.

The Centrair International Airport will act as the hub of the race course that will traverse Tokoname City and surrounding environs. The event expo, race office and awards banquet will be located inside the airport terminal itself, offering a unique Ironman 70.3 experience for athletes and fans alike.

The Ironman 70.3 event will consit of a 1.2 mile Swim, 56 mile Bike and 13.1 mile Run. The event, the 40th is an addition to the 2010 Ironman 70.3 Series and features 25 qualifying slots to the 2010 Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, FL on November 13, 2010.

Travel to and from Ironman 70.3 Centrair Tokoname Japan is convenient, with the airport offering direct flights from ports such as Frankfurt, Detroit and Singapore. Domestic flights within Japan are also available, as well as a bullet train service from Tokyo.

Registration opens Monday, March 15 at www.ironman703.jp, with the entry fee set at JPY40,000 or about $440 USD.
