New Washington DC Triathlon Announced


washington dc triathlonThe producers of The Nation’s Triathlon have announced a new event set to take place in the nation’s capital, Washington, DC. The inaugural Washington DC Triathlon will take place on Sunday, June 20, 2010. The triathlon event will feature Sprint and Olympic distance courses that wind through DC’s monumental corridors with a spectacular finish along Pennsylvania Avenue.

The races will start in West Potomac Park along the banks of the Potomac River and will finish on Pennsylvania Avenue. The Sprint distance will consist of a 800me Swim, 20km Bike and 6.7km Run. The Olympic distance triathlon will feature a 1.5km Swim in the Potomac River, 40km Bike course along DC’s most scenic parkways and a 10km run through Washington’s monumental corridor. The event will feature the Newbie Challenge, a race within a race to compete against those completing their first ever triathlon.

Registration for this new triathlon event opens on February 1, 2010 at 9:00 am EST. The first 500 athletes to register will recieve a $25 discount into the race.

The new Washington DC Triathlon joins The Nation’s Triathlon in benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
