As athletes and coaches themselves, Hugh Colvin and Robert Reid know exactly what is required to train for and compete in ironman distance triathlons, cyclosportives and running events in the UK and around Europe. That's why they have launched Switchback Training, the ultimate experience in specialist triathlon and cycling training holidays and camps.
Triathlon is Britain's fastest growing participation sport and shows no sign of slowing down. Cycling also continues to grow in popularity as British stars on the track and pro-tour teams like Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and Bradley Wiggins raise the profile of the sport to new levels.
Located in the French Alps, Switchback Training offers unparalleled opportunities to train, recover and live like a professional athlete. The camps are designed for cyclists entering events like the Étape du Tour and the Marmotte, triathletes preparing for Ironman, 70.3 and Olympic distance events as well as cyclists wanting to test themselves on the infamous climbs of the Tour de France.
Having lived and trained in the French Alps Hugh and Rob saw an opportunity to offer people the chance to spend time on dedicated training camps for triathlon and cycling. Their experience across a wide range of events means that they can put on bespoke training packages for clubs and groups that will mirror the conditions experienced in competition. It also allows them to choose training routes that will push clients to build strength, speed and stamina. They believe that away from the pressures of work, family and social commitments, Switchback Training will allow people to concentrate on the two most important parts of athletic development, their training and their recovery.
Hugh says that what sets Switchback Training apart from its competitors is the fact that:
"Switchback is owned and run by two athletes who are currently competing to a high level in triathlon and cycling competition. We know what it takes to train and push yourself to a high level and we are here to offer you the support you need to do the same.
Also important is the fact that our location is second to none. Switchback's environment provides immediate access to some of the best known climbs of the Tour de France but also flat roads for TT style riding, quiet roads and trails for running and the opportunity for open water swimming in a local purpose built swimming lake and Lake Annecy, the cleanest lake in Europe.
We'll also make sure you enjoy the process, we run triathlon training camps not boot camps!"
