Since the launch of Team Abu Dhabi Triathlon there have been rumors of a new triathlon race in Abu Dhabi or in the United Arab Emirates in general and today those rumors have become reality with the unveiling of the new Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. The new race is set to take place March 13, 2010 and features two unique distances and a HUGE total prize purse of $250,000 USD, with $20,000 of that going towards age groupers!

The race will feature two new distances to challenge athletes which is aimed at attracting up to a 1,000 triathletes, including the world’s top professionals to the capital city of Abu Dhabi:

The course has been designed to ensure athletes experience the very best of Abu Dhabi. Registration for the new race is now open: $150 USD for the Long Distance, $96 USD for the Short Distance and $272 USD for a Relay prior to December 31, 2009. Prices increase starting January 1, 2010 and will be $180 USD for the Long Course, $123 USD for the Short Course.
