The World Triathlon Corporation has announced that Syracuse, New York will play host to one of 35 events in the 2010 in the Ironman 70.3 Series. The late season inaugural race will take place on Sunday, September 19, 2010 and will consist of a 1.2mi Swim, a 56mi Bike and a 13.1mi Run through central New York.
The 1.2 mile swim course is a out and back swim course that will start and finish from the shores of Jamesville Beach. The 56 mile bike course will be a single loop course while the 13.1 mile run course is tentatively setup as a point-to-point course that will have athletes leaving the transition area and heading into downtown Syracuse with a finish at the Syracuse Inner Harbor Park.

Athletes will be vying for a total of 50 qualifying slots to the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, FL. Ironman 70.3. The professional purse prize for the event is $25,000. Athletes registered for the event will receive an inaugural Ironman Syracuse 70.3 Backpack.
Registration for the new Ironman 70.3 Syracuse triathlon event opens on September 1, 2009.
