Here is a preliminary look at the 2010 Ironman Race Calendar. Once again the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) added new Ironman races the schedule. In March the WTC added another Ironman triathlon event in North America with the addition of Ironman St. George and then in added a second Ironman race in Germany with the addition of Ironman Regensburg. The Ironman St. George event is set to take place in May 1, 2010 and is the 9th Ironman qualifying race in North America while Ironman Regensburg is set to take place on August 1, 2010 and is the 6th Ironman triathlon event in Europe. This brings the number of qualifying races for the World Championship race to 24 if you don't include the qualifying slots available from some of the Ironman 70.3 races. Additional Race Notes:
- The third running of Ironman China moves back a month from April to March in 2010. The earlier date in March dramatically decreases the chances for a hot race day.
- Ironman South Africa race date is three weeks later in April in 2010 compared to the 2009 race date of April 5, 2009.
