A new Olympic distance triathlon in Colorado has been announced, the Western Colorado Triathlon.

The Highline State Park venue in Mack, Colorado provides a very scenic back drop of the Book Cliff Mountains and the Colorado National Monument.
The Western Colorado Triathlon event will consist of .9mi Swim, 24mi Bike and 6.2mi trail Run. Participants will start on a beach and swim in the clean waters of Highline Reservoir. The bike portion of the race will exit the park. Riders will be challenged with a fast yet hilly bike course. After that athletes will then traverse the up and down single track run course to the finish atop the dam. Each racer will receive a shirt, lunch at Highline State Park, and a beer.
Triathletes can also experience the nature and beauty Highline State Park has to offer by camping on-site before the race. Campsites are available and being held by the park for this event. Camping spaces are being held for the event for Friday (9/18) and Saturday (9/19). The park has pay showers available and all spots are all closely located to the start / finish area (approx 50-150 yards). If nature is not your cup of tea, they also have negotiated special rates with the Comfort Inn in Fruita, CO. Entry Fees:
- Early Registration: $80.00
- Late Registration: $90.00 (unsure when early registration is over, no date mentioned)
NOTE: This is a USAT sanctioned event, if you don't have a USAT membership you will need a one day license. Fees do not include Active.com service charge.
